Akbank
Amazing ad from Turkey. Now, that would really require a lot of co-ordination backed by a great concept. It reminds you of the Talk Talk ad
we had posted here earlier but this one is even better.Let us know what you felt about the ad, the concept, the execution etc..leave your feedback in the "Comments" section

Absolut-ly Brilliant !! Loved the concept- what if the world solves its differences this way?? !!! Also the nice and easy sounding soundtrack running thru the ad. Anyone know what language it was?? Sounded Italian to me !

Quite a leap of creativity this, should we say??? Claims Morphy Richards irons out even the Mt Everest size wrinkles :-) .Let us know what you think of the ad in the comments section.
adMad Trivia Fortnight series 3
Not too many right answers this time. Btw of course I meant Vivian Richards when I mentioned the West Indian batsman, I guess you could work out Morphy Richards pretty easily from it. Shyam is the winner for the day , congrats !!!
Here is the last question for adMad Trivia fortnight series, Let me tell you it's pretty neck to neck still, not sure who will be the winner this time
Which 7 letter brand name should be prefixed to the following sub brands ......PEPPAR (Roasted Jalapenos, Green Tomato and Dried Herbs flavor ), .....CITRON (Lemon flavor),......KURANT (Blackcurrant flavor),.....MANDRIN (Orange and mandarin flavor mix),...VANILIA (Vanilla flavor)and ....RASPBERRI (Raspberry flavor). Much of their fame is due to its long-running advertising campaign, created by advertising agency TBWA, started around 1980 with photographer Steven Bronstein

Midday
Essential Mumbai !!!
The idea does not seem to be original, its similar to the Les Echos concept!
adMad Trivia Fortnight Series 3
Its Midday and not the dabbawallahs as Sri thought ;-) though , of course they could use the punchline too if they ever have one. The day's winner is justifiably a Mumbaiite Deepthi Nair
Sorry for missing putting the day's winner's name yesterday. Its updated there now..
Here's the question for the day..
In 1974 Arthur Fry, an employee of Minnesota Mining and Manufacturing was singing in a church choir and got frustrated that his bookmarks kept falling out of his hymnal. He used his colleague Spencer Silver's invention to solve the problem. What resulted?

Ducati
The Ducati Biker towering over a highway of cars !!
adMad Trivia Fortnight Series #3
The day's winner is Anish
In the Trivia Fortnight Series, after the 1st week of questions, there are 2 joint leaders - Glenn Suares and Abdul Quadir, both with 4 points each. Anish (aka TechJ aka Clemenza :-)) is just a point behind with 3 (sorry man, I cant give u points for VF coz the clues point to Wrangler specifically ). Deepthi Nair has 2 points and there are several "one"s.
Here is the next question. Short and sweet...
Whose punchline is "Delivering Mumbai" ?
Monday, July 23, 2007
Nike
Familiar somehow in concept ??? You'll know why , when you see this if you r in India....
The above Nike Cricket was a classic definitely, however it really seems to have been "inspired" from the earlier first ad at least in the basic concept.Especially how both the ads end. However, the indianization and adaptation has worked amazingly well I'd say.
adMad Trivia Fortnight Series #3
Will publish the tally tomorrow, here is the first qn for the week to continue the series
Three brothers Adriano, Marcello and Bruno .... founded Societa Scientifica Radio Brevetti ..... in Bologna in 1926. Indian Express
adMad Trivia Fortnight
Only one person has got it right this time !!!Abdul Quadir, congrats !!As he has written, he couldnt answer last day's question due to a disruption in internet connection; but has got the only right answer this time. Guess, the question was a bit confusing. The answer I was looking for was of course "Indian Express" which was the nick-name the duo were known by around the time they won Wimbledon etc.
Here's the next one...very very guessable this time to compensate
adMad trivia fortnight series 3, Q: 4

RayBan
Hmm...mebbe they are talkin about "ice" tea, with regards to having a cooling effect. This technique is an oft used one by advertisers where the shape of the advertised product is made to look like something else with similar properties. This often requires quite clever thinking from the creative guy..
Can you remember any other such examples? Please do leave a comment in the "Comments" section
adMad Trivia fortnight Series #3
The answer to yesterday's question was Rayban and the Lucky winner for the day is Shyam!! Congrats man, and also to all those others who got their answers right..

Hope you got it right - To kick off the series 3 of adMad trivia fortnight here is the first question:-
The history of this company starts in post war Germany when radios were subject to strict Allied control. Max ".........." had an idea, a radio without vacuum tubes is not really a radio. So he introduced the brand of radios named The Heinzelmann which is a radio kit with only one circuit, for short, medium and long wave. This became the best-seller in Germany. Currently it is one of the most well-known brands in Europe. Its recognition factor lies at a unique 98% in Germany alone. They currently use the simple punchline "Made for you” and are present in India too. Just name the brand

Surf
I'm sure this choice for the worst ads series will be vehemently opposed by many. But well, mebbe we're tired of seeing these soppy sweet "oh so cute" children in ads. Also mebbe we did'nt find the li'l monster quixotically beating up the water puddle particularly cute.Promoting li'l bullies and general WWE style violence in kids, whatever they say , yeh Daag acchaa nahin hai!!
There were many other ads which we wanted to feature here in the "Ads we hated" series, such as the old Sachin Colgate ad, and the current Xtra Mile ad while ends with the Petrol stn assistant running after the family in space suits, shouting "Mere Liye Taare laana" ;-) etc. But then we could'nt get hold of the videos for the same. Mebbe another time.

Coca Cola
Pepsi has been featured here in the "Ads we Hate" series which we are running this week, so can Coke be left behind? Here is one awful ad from Coke. I know, there will be different opinions on this one, there are many who liked it for Aish giving it back to the eve teasers; but then again for many, it all seemed so artificial and irritating. Its just our opinion , you are entitled to have your own..Aakhir Opinion hai aapki :-)))

Pepsi
Pepsi has had quite many really creative and funny ads after coming to India with the Remo Fernandes, Penny Vaz , Juhi Chawla "Magic" ad. However, after a few good campaigns, this was when they seemed to have touched rock bottom with PEPSI TV. Overacting, a lame concept and repeated airing ...things which makes u hate an ad even more. This one had it all. A good example of a non-creative and rather immature ad despite a huge budget.
Any Pepsi ads you remember as being downright bad..do send to us at 2creativeads@gmail.com

Lux
Something was not all right with this ad. Ok, it was bold, trying another route , different from all the previous advertising for Lux etc; but then Shahrukh Khan and Lux somehow do not go with each other. What do you think? Do let us know in the comments section.
Btw here is a piece of trivia. The first Indian filmstar ever to endorse Lux was Leela Chitnis in 1936 !!!!

Fair and Handsome
First ad to kick off the "Ads we hated" week...
Well what do we say about this ad? Not only was it pretty stupid with a lame concept and had an irritating sound track, it was aired ad nauseum during quite a few cricket series between every over. I know many of u hate this one as well. Let us know eitherway in the comments section

Mazda
What a way to park !!!! Cool, eh? Smaller cars often have a bigger appeal for city dwellers being much easier to park. The ad effectively brings out this aspect of Mazda..
Now about next week............
We were thinking of having something different for the next week. ie: The ads you absolutely hated !!! Video ads or Print ads. Send your nominations at 2creativeads@gmail.com as soon as possible and we will try to feature them here at adMad. More so if we hate those as well :-)). If its a video ad try get a Youtube link or so, else if it is a print ad send the same as an attachment...You can also have a few lines on why you hated it so much...

Skoda Fabia
The yummiest car ever made!!!
adMad Trivia Fortnight #2

Now, the question for the day, with 2 more questions to go in this series of Trivia Fortnight. Not so tough actually, there's one good work-outable clue within the question itself.
The name of this Hiroshima based company is the same as the Avestan language name for an exalted divinity of ancient proto-Indo-Iranian religion that was subsequently declared by Zarathustra (Zoroaster) to be the one uncreated creator of all. The founder Jujiro Matsuda, who was interested in spirituality, and chose to rename it in honor of both his family and the Zoroastrians. Currently it is a part of the Ford group. Ford Mondeo
Tom and Jerry has been used to market a lot of kids' stuff but its the first time I'm seeing them marketing something as serious as a car. Out-of-the box thinking I guess, but in line with Ford's "SAFE" positioning.
adMad Trivia Fortnight #2
I did google thru the list of American Presidents to ensure that there was no American President named Packard, so guess we are safe in saying that (Gerald) Ford is the only possible answer to the question. The winner for the day is Gopal. Congrats to you and all those who got their answers right!
A bit of history behind that question for me btw, it was answering that question which got me to the Brand Equity Finals last year. A sponsor's plug you could say :-))
FN #2, Trivia #7
In 1894 Václav Klement, who was a bookseller by trade in Mladá Boleslav, in today's Czech Republic (which was then part of Austria-Hungary) was unable to obtain the right spare parts to repair his German bicycle. Klement returned his bicycle to the manufacturers, Seidel and Naumann, with a letter, in Czech, asking for them to carry out repairs, only to receive a reply, in German, stating: "If you would like an answer to your inquiry, you should try writing in a language we can understand." A disgusted Klement, despite not having any previous technical experience, then decided to start his own bicycle repair shop, which he and Václav Laurin opened in 1895 in Mladá Boleslav. In 1924, after running into problems and being hit by a fire, the company merged with the biggest industrial enterprise and a leading arms manufacturer in Czechoslovakia. Name this company.
