The ticker symbol G at NYSE was previously owned by Gillette. Gillette has been taken over by P&G and hence it doesnt have a separate ticker symbol anymore. On a side note, NYSE tickers M and I does not belong to anyone now and it is rumored that this is kept for Microsoft and Intel if they move over to NYSE from NASDAQ!!
